This message is about a forthcoming change to the University’s system of grades and grade-points. It is being sent to all undergraduate students, but it is particularly relevant for students in Years 1 and 2 of the BA, BAcc, BD, BEd, BEng, BMus, BN, BSc, BTech, LLB, MA, MA (SocSci), MEng, and MSci programmes.Assessment is governed by the University’s Code of Assessment, which is part of the University Calendar (the formal regulations). A full explanation is provided here. This specifies a set of grades from A1 (highest) to H (lowest) with descriptions of each grade shown in the table below. Some courses, notably projects, are assessed using these.The University policy for taught students on late submission of coursework can be found in section 16.25 onwards of the Code of Assessment, which is part of the University Regulations (formerly known as the University Calendar). If you hand in your work late, without a good reason for doing so, your mark will be reduced by two secondary bands for each day late.
An automated email will be issued to your student email account from MyCampus with your exam results as they become available. Results will also be published on MyCampus. Please refrain from telephoning or emailing the Registry to check when your results will be published. Members of staff are not allowed to give out results by telephone or email.The University Common Grading Scale, CGS, provides a common marking scale which is used across the University. This enables candidates to compare their performance in different disciplines and courses and ensures consistency in assessment. The Common Grading Scale comprises 23 alphanumeric g rades grouped into seven b ands with an associated g.
